  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice Always opt for freshly squeezed.
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup Made from equal parts sugar and water.
  • 1/2 ounce egg white Optional for frothiness; can use pasteurized or omit.
  • crushed ice cubes For serving.
  • maraschino cherry Optional for garnish.
  • orange twist or lemon twist Optional for garnish.

Preparation
  1. Fill your cocktail shaker with 2 ounces of Amaretto, 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/2 ounce of simple syrup, and 1/2 ounce of egg white (if using).
  2. Secure the lid and shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 seconds without any ice.
  3. Add crushed ice to your shaker and shake again for another 15 seconds to chill and incorporate.
  4. Strain the mixture into a low-ball glass filled halfway with crushed ice.
  5. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a twist of orange or lemon peel.

Notes

For best froth, do the dry shake first before adding ice. Avoid using bottled lemon juice for optimal flavor.
