Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise I recommend using Hellmann's or Duke's for a smooth texture.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt Use full-fat for creaminess; Greek yogurt is a great lighter alternative.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice About 1 lime; fresh juice is essential for the best flavor.
Flavor Enhancers
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic Or 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Choose your favorite brand.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin Provides a warm, earthy note.
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Adjust for spice level.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, add the mayonnaise, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  2. Use a whisk to combine all the ingredients until smooth and creamy. Alternatively, pulse everything in a food processor or blender.
  3. Taste the sauce, then adjust according to your preference. Add extra lime juice for tang or more chili powder for heat.
  4. Let the sauce sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes before serving to develop the best flavor.
Serving
  1. Drizzle over your favorite fish tacos, grilled shrimp, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator; it stays fresh for about a week. This sauce is perfect for making ahead of time.
