For the Drizzle
  • 1 cup 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it rest for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Pour half of the vegetable oil into the yeast mixture, followed by the flour and salt. Stir until a soft, sticky dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a 12-inch pizza pan with parchment paper and pour the remaining oil onto the pan.
  5. Once the dough has risen, transfer it to the pan. Using your fingers, press it out to the edges while creating dimples.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes until it’s lightly golden but not fully baked.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and granulated sugar. Brush this mixture over the baked crust. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly on top.
  8. In another bowl, combine the 1 cup flour, 2/3 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, and kosher salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle this topping evenly over the cherry filling.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 13-15 minutes, or until the topping turns golden brown.
  10. In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, whole milk, and almond extract until smooth. Drizzle over the warm pizza.
  11. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve as is or with vanilla ice cream.
