Preparation
- To the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, add 2 cups of heavy cream. Mix at the lowest speed, gradually increasing to medium until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Reduce speed to low and slowly add 1/2 cup of confectioners' sugar. Once combined, gradually increase the speed to medium, then high.
- Continue mixing on high until the cream thickens and soft peaks form, approximately another 2-4 minutes.
Layering
- In a large trifle bowl, begin layering by adding 1/3 of the angel food cake cubes, followed by 1/3 of the whipped cream mixture, and then half of the orange curd. Repeat this process one more time.
- Finish with the last 1/3 of cake and top with the remaining whipped cream.
Chilling
- You can serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
Notes
Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Consider serving with buttery shortbread cookies or fresh fruit salad.
