Mixing
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream or yogurt, dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
Adjusting Texture
- If you prefer a lighter texture, add the cream or milk to the mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
Chilling
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the sauce for at least 10 minutes to meld the flavors.
Serving
- After chilling, taste the sauce and adjust the salt or lemon juice as needed. Serve drizzled over salmon or as a dipping sauce.
Notes
Store leftover sauce in an airtight container for up to a week. It can be made a couple of days in advance for deeper flavor development.
