Ingredients
  

For the Matcha Base
  • 2.5 tsp matcha powder Use high-quality ceremonial-grade matcha for the best flavor.
  • 3 tbsp hot water Not boiling, about 175°F works best.
  • 1 cup warm water Helps blend everything seamlessly.
For Assembly
  • Ice Ice To cool you down on a hot day!
  • 1 cup milk Your choice (dairy, almond, oat, etc.).
  • 1 tsp honey Add more or less to taste, or use sweeteners like agave or maple syrup.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Measure out 2.5 tsp of matcha powder into a small bowl. Pour in 3 tbsp of hot water, ideally at 175°F. Whisk vigorously for 30-45 seconds until smooth and frothy.
  2. Add 1 cup of warm water to the smooth matcha mixture and stir well until fully combined.
  3. Transfer this mixture into the freezer for about 15 minutes to chill thoroughly.
Assembly
  1. Fill your serving glass with ice and pour in your preferred milk until the glass is about three-quarters full.
  2. Stir in 1 tsp of honey to taste, then pour the chilled matcha base over the milk and ice.
  3. Give everything a good stir to combine flavors beautifully. Serve immediately.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh; any leftover matcha base can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 48 hours. You can prepare the matcha base in advance and mix it with milk when you want to enjoy your drink.
