Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and kosher salt.
- In a stand mixer, combine the room-temperature butter and brown sugar. Mix on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add in the egg and mix until just combined.
- Incorporate the maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract. Beat on high for an additional minute.
Baking
- Reduce the mixer to low speed and add the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough. Roll them into balls and place them on the lined sheets, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 8-9 minutes until golden at the edges but still a little doughy in the center.
- Let them cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, whisk together confectioners' sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, maple extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cookies and let it set for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for perfect mixing. Using real maple syrup yields the best results.
