Fresh Berries
  • 2 cups blueberries Fresh or frozen; do not thaw if using frozen.
  • 1 cup strawberries, chopped Choose sweet, ripe strawberries for best flavor.
  • 1 cup raspberries Adds tartness to balance the sweetness of the cake.
  • 1/2 cup cherries, pitted and halved Fresh cherries elevate the dish.
Cake Components
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 ounces) Use your favorite brand.
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced Should be chilled for perfect crumble topping.
  • whipped cream for topping (optional) Perfect addition to serve alongside.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter.
  3. Spread the blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and cherries evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the fruit layer.
  5. Distribute the diced butter evenly over the dry cake mix.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
  7. Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving, and top with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Avoid stirring the cake mix into the fruit; keep the layers distinct. If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
