Ingredients
  

Dressing Base
  • 2.25 cups mayonnaise I recommend Hellmann’s for a rich flavor.
  • 1 cup buttermilk Homemade is great, but store-bought works too.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Adjust to your taste.
  • 1.5 teaspoons celery seed For that signature flavor.
  • 0.75 teaspoons black pepper Freshly cracked if possible.
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt To enhance the flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar Adds a nice tang.
Coleslaw
  • 32 ounces coleslaw mix Or a mix of shredded cabbage and carrots.

Method
 

Mix Up the Dressing
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, buttermilk, sugar, apple cider vinegar, celery seed, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
Toss in the Coleslaw Mix
  1. Fold in the coleslaw mix and gently toss until all cabbage and carrots are evenly coated with the dressing.
Chill Out
  1. Transfer the dressed coleslaw to a serving bowl or airtight storage container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Serve & Enjoy
  1. After chilling, give it another toss, taste for seasoning adjustments, and serve.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. You can make this dressing a week in advance. Perfect for summer picnics, BBQs, or family gatherings.
