Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground turkey Lean ground turkey (I love using Butterball as it’s juicy and flavorful)
  • 1 piece egg Room temperature
  • 3/4 cup gluten-free panko breadcrumbs Feel free to replace with regular breadcrumbs if you prefer
  • 1/2 cup onion Finely diced
  • 1.5 tsp garlic Minced
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning Mix of dried herbs
  • 1/2 tsp pepper Freshly ground will give the best taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt Essential for enhancing flavors
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika Adds a hint of smokiness
  • 1/4 cup milk For moisture without excess fat
For the Meatloaf Glaze
  • 2 tbsp ketchup For meatloaf
  • 2 tbsp steak sauce For meatloaf
  • 2 tbsp ketchup For glaze
  • 2 tbsp steak sauce For glaze

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare your baking sheet or loaf pan by lining it with foil for easy cleanup.
  3. Finely dice the onion.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, egg, and milk until just mixed. Be cautious not to overwork it.
  5. Add the diced onion and dry ingredients including breadcrumbs, garlic, Italian seasoning, pepper, salt, and smoked paprika. Gently mix until just combined.
  6. Shape the mixture into a loaf shape on the prepared pan.
  7. In a separate bowl, combine ketchup and steak sauce for the glaze. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the loaf.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the meatloaf mixture. If your meatloaf falls apart, it may need more binders like breadcrumbs or egg.
