Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened slightly Use high-quality ice cream like Häagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry's.
  • 1/2 cup whole milk Whole milk makes it creamy; you can use 2% or almond milk instead.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla extract for richer flavor.
Optional Toppings
  • whipped cream, optional Homemade is best; canned is a quick alternative.
  • maraschino cherry, optional Choose brands using natural colors and flavors.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather your ingredients. Let the vanilla ice cream soften at room temperature for 5-10 minutes.
Blending
  1. Place the softened vanilla ice cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract into a blender.
  2. Blend on high speed for 30 to 60 seconds until smooth and creamy. Scrape sides halfway to ensure thorough mixing.
  3. If the milkshake is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time and blend until desired consistency is reached.
  4. If too thin, add more ice cream and blend again.
Serving
  1. Pour the milkshake into tall glasses. Top with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
  2. For an extra touch, drizzle chocolate syrup inside the glass before adding the milkshake.
  3. Serve immediately with thick straws or spoons.

Notes

For best results, ensure ice cream is softened for easy blending. Store any leftovers in the freezer for a thicker treat. Consider adding a pinch of salt or espresso powder for richer flavor.
